General Winfield Scott Hancock Autograph Letter Signed

Dated September 6, 1889, 1.5 pp. 8vo. This is a letter written from Governors Island, New York responding to a social invitation for he and his wife. In part: “…..Mrs. Hancock and I will be glad to see you here at any time…you had better give us notice of your coming so that we may be at home.” Overall very good.

Union general (1824–1886) who distinguished himself in the Battle of Gettysburg and later commanded Custer and the 7th Cavalry against the Cheyenne in 1867.
