General George Meade War-Date Autograph Letter Signed

PRICE…SOLD

Featured here is a superb war-date ALS signed by General George G. Meade, dated January 8th, 1864, on his Headquarters Army Of The Potomac stationary. Measuring 5″ X 7″ it is one page in dark ink thanking B. F. Wilson for his patent Tent stove for army use which was delivered. Genl. Wilson is not mentioned as a purveyor of military supplies during the War but may have been a representative of a manufacturer. Sibley stoves were used throughout the War so it is unlikely it was the standard Sibley stove Meade was writing about. Overall a very fine letter, well written and a very scarce war date ALS with great content. Very Fine. All comes professionally custom matted and framed using only the best archival materials and high quality mahogany wood. Encased under UV protected glass, etc. Beautiful piece and a wonderful wall hanger! Overall size of the framed piece is 21″ X 14″.
