PRICE….SOLD

Here is a nice war-date document written and signed in the hand of Meade’s Chief of Staff, Andrew A. Humphreys. He wrote this note requesting cavalry in September 1863. It’s all in his hand and in pencil. Overall fine condition. This would go along perfectly with a photo of the General framed up on your wall. A great war period note indeed.

 It Reads:

Head-Quarters, Army of the Potomac

Sept. 28 – 1863

Genl. Patrick, (Marsena R. Patrick),

Please have the regt. Of cavalry with you, the 2nd Pa. ?, get under arms immediately & send them to form with those that Genl. Pleasonton (Alfred Pleasonton) has at his Hd. Qtrs, Genl. Meade wishes them Genl. ? some cavalry.

A.A.H. (Andrew A. Humphreys)
