Partly-printed DS, signed on verso “Will’m Moultrie,” and also signed by Peter Bremar. One page, both sides, April 27th 1787. There is a second document with a picture of the land and Peter Bremar signs again. As governor of South Carolina, Moultrie grants Benjamin Pearce “a Plantation or Tract of Land, containing One thousand Acres….” In very good condition, with intersecting folds, partial separations and paper loss, and scattered foxing and staining. Archival tape has been applied in many locations throughout the document by a former collector but damage does not affect any of the signatures that are bold and crisp. Photo not included.

Moultrie was a General in the Continental Army during the American Revolution and later governor of South Carolina (1730–1805).
