Signed as Secretary of War. One page, 7.75″ x 9″. War Department; March 9, 1793. Knox writes to Samuel Hodgdon concerning military stores. In full: “Sir. Please to inform me what are the military stores which are preparing in this townunder your inspection for the State of South Carolina.” All comes professionally custom matted and framed using only the best archival materials and high quality mahogany wood. Encased under UV protected glass, etc. Overall size is 21 X 15 and includes a beautiful high quality reproduction photo of an original painting by Gilbert Stuart in 1806. Beautiful piece and a wonderful wall hanger.

Near fine condition with slight separations at the folds along the right margin. Light toning throughout.

Knox (1750-1824) achieved fame as a general in the Revolutionary Army and later served as secretary of war from 1789 to 1794 under President George Washington.
