ALS from Henry Knox signed “H. Knox,” November 16, 1785, written by Knox while serving as secretary of war for the Continental Congress, in part: “Gave the necessary certificate to Mr. Gilchrist to enable him to settle the account. I imagine he must have received the money, as I made the arrangement with the treasury board for payment instantly”. Writing is a shade light but overall very good. A rare ALS from the famed General and perfect for framing. Photo not included.

Henry Knox (July 25, 1750 – October 25, 1806) was a military officer of the Continental Army and later the United States Army, who also served as the first United States Secretary of War from 1789–1794.
