This is a Clip AES written and signed by Stephen D. Lee on 3/18/63 as Brig. Genl. Comdg during the Vicksburg Campaign. It is an amazing battle note giving orders for the following: “Respectfully transmitted-every man is needed at the Heavy Batteries, and request that the order may be enforced. S.D. Lee Brig Genl Comdg Mch 18/63.” The note refers to action along the Mississippi River at Vicksburg which he was defending access to after taking command of Lt. General John C. Pemberton’s Artillery. This note with a nice picture would be a great addition to your Civil War Collection. Battlefield notes are exceedingly rare.
